Semana santa with melcocha on Monserrate mountain around Bogota, Colombia

For Easter, Semana Santa in Spanish, people walk up the mountain as a way of pilgrimage onto the Monserrate mountain that surrounds the capital. Along the little paths you’ll find colourful stalls where locals prepare food and drinks for the crowds that pass that day. Typical is the Melcocha, a super sweet postre or dessert that is very elaborated and needs a lot of man power and patience.

A walk around Cachipai, a village in the province of Cundinamarca, Colombia.

We walked along the village and were attracted by some old school Colombian music coming from the front garden of a colourfully painted houdse in one of the streets pointing to the mountains. A few very happy drunk people were dancing and enjoying life. They smiled and just kept on dancing for us.
